Improve Garry's Mod leaks

AC 130

I believe that a person or maybe multiple people should be assigned to the Garrys Mod leaks section.

Why?

The Garrys Mod leaks section is quite popular as there are a lot of posts in there each day.

People also tend to make very shit posts and not include the most basic details of the leak in their post. (Not everyone but some people.)

Leaks should be required to have a title, name, description and if available: Original addon URL and Image.
This would really help because sometimes people post random shit like ?DarkRP Hud with no image, description or URL and you dont even know what addon youre getting.

It would be great People assigned to the section could do basic lua error checks and backdoor checks every now and then on posts. They are very simple to do but will really help clean up the section.
(I am not suggesting this because I am lazy but it would help for the less experienced users.)

I also think a rule should be added about 2nd hand leaks (Ripping leaks from someone else from a place like codefodderwhich tends to have a ton of shit included with them)

Benefits:

Leaks will be clean, backdoor and error free

Posts will be more specific and in detail do people know what theyre getting because people assigned could check posts often

Less experienced people will not have to worry about dealing with backdoors.

Look at this leak pack (Mine):https://nulledbb.com/thread-RELEASE-10-Leaks-UP-TO-DATE
Compared to this (Someone elses):https://nulledbb.com/thread-DarkRP-Hud--114335

Which one looks better?

If we have rules against shit posts like the DarkRP HUD leak I mentioned above, Leaks will look better

All of the things I said doesnt have to happen but I believe if something like this were to happen, it would really improve the Gmod leaks section.

Feel free to reply with other ideas to add or remove to what I said.

Apologies if my post looks shit but I am on my phone as I am typing this.

Im not big in gmod, and i dont hang out there, but as much spam as i see on the right side, honestly maybe this is a decent enough idea. Although again this would take time to do

I think the only challenge would be assigning people to check for backdoors and errors but other than that it should be easy.

Because trusted people would need to be assigned to moderate it and do the error and backdoor checks

We actually used to have a resource submission page where you'd need to include the title, description and download link. We need this back Aoki.
Honestly, though we can't dedicate our time to one specific section, maybe we need to have some dedicated sectional moderators to the section but that isn't my call to make.
I agree with this to do with we need the submit resources hook back on the forum but edited to have: title, description, screenshot, virus total link, download link and source link.

Virus total links for gmod addons are not necessary, since virus total will not catch anything on lua files.
Addons with anything that isn't .lua's and materials mimetypes are automatically not in the right section or not thrusted.

Resource submission sounds good for me. But we have other two problems:
1- SPAM (Everyday, people uploads the same addon, in the same version ~~ sometimes it's just a reupload from another nulled post ~~)
2- Unlocking air (Not a joke, so many times i unlocked something and i got a wrong link, not working link with no response from the post creator, making the section mod able to unlock unlimited ammout of itens on his section would make the link patrol easy)

I' completely up to this, i'm experienced with lua and gmod in general. If someday a recruitment starts give-me a chance to try.

I also see that people upload addons from CodeFodder. It is a free leak website filled with junk, bullshit and backdoors. That is why a lot of leaks end up being shit. That is why I want a rule against 2nd hand leaks

I would be up for the task as well if any of this becomes a thing.

I edited my post again so it looks nicer.
Still waiting for IOS fixes :D

Virus Total link is an option on the download submission page, I didn't say it'd be useful for every leak. We had this system and it was much easier to submit content, at the moment it's a nightmare and why I hardly leak in bulk now. Either way, if the link is broken, report the thread. We check it and then issue a refund where appropriate. We also lock the thread and leave a response so that the OP can contact us with a new link. Sectional Mods would basically be doing the same job as we do at the moment when it comes to leaks all across the forums.

I mean, this would be kind of helpful to most of us but the newbies to gmod might uh.. ya know, find it difficult maybe??

Honestly not the brightest thing I've seen someone say. The leaks may be here for your convenience but at the same time, you're not supposed to waltz in and expect everything tobe handed to you. Being new to Gmod means absolutely nothing when it comes to submitting content to a forum and you should be contributing to the community with H I G H Q U A L I T Y posts rather than leeching at every turn. Also if you're new to gmod, lua or source, you shouldn't be looking for leaks anyway, nor should you shouldn't be running a server with minimal knowledge.

I agree with the OP and replies (except for this one) entirely. I believe it's an issue with every leaks sub forum though and should all be treated the same way.

The main things I think needs to be done is adding section/sub section mods to leak sections who has an understanding of whatever leaks are in that category e.g someone with basic addon and lua understanding for gmod leaks.

Some rules being added and making leaks more clean will really benefit.

As for the person you quoted, I agree. It is extremely easy to post leaks and use other peoples leaks.
People nowadays don't bother doing research.. (Nvm he got banned. lol)
