are minecraft realms worth it

It's more convenient than a server, if you have the funds then go for it but if you don't want to waste money then set up a server, although it's more time consiming.

They are a money-grubbing scam. Microsoft is tearing the game apart! Just go with Hamachi or run a server off your pc

Just host your own server, you may need to learn how but I don't see how realms is even needed

They're a bit pricey but well-built, however, you get restricted access to its files.

No, actual servers are cheaper and infinitely more customization. Realms seems to just exist for the lazy or technologically inept.
