[1.14.4]old player getting used to new stuff in minecraft

I havent played minecraft since about a few years ago and I was wondering why when I sprint and attack with sword at the same time , my wooden ?shield pops up preventing me to fight. It showed up on the hypixel server during skyward idk if its just because the server is like that but it really is such an inconviencence. (Java)
