Go

This, my friends, is the oldest game that is still played today in its original form. Go was seen between 2500-4000 years ago and for its simple look, requires a lot of strategy. The board is a simple flat square and the pieces are elegant, smooth black or white rocks depending on which side you are on. Black pieces always go first when playing Go, after that, the idea is to place pieces one after the other to try and surround territory or the other players pieces. Quite honestly, that is the easiest way I can explain the game. I have never played it myself, but I know there are a few special situations that may arise which are usually only recognized by very strong players. Beginners may play the game and do just fine, but as in chess, there are very complex strategies involved which engross players and are the reason for this game being around as long as it has. Hop onto the RTS train again, but super slaughter mode. Though Go can be interpreted in a simplistic way, the sign of a true veteran is a well-thought out plan to crush your opponent, and power fantasies are a huge part of video games today.
