Breath of the Wild is a must-play. Great game. If you are generally a fan of more traditional Zelda games, give Cadence of Hyrule a shot. I love that game (and its where my profile pic comes from). But whatever you do, don't buy Hyrule Warriors. Waste of money.

Pokemon Sword/Shield is hit/miss for Pokemon fans, but I've been a long time fan and enjoy the game. I have a friend that is new to Pokemon and also enjoys it, so it may be worth a try.

Okami HD is a great game in my opinion with a great story, art style, and music, but the general game-play can be rather boring and puzzle solving is rather easy.

Smash is always a great game, but I wouldn't recommend it if you don't regularly play with friends.

If you enjoy old SNES/NES games, there's the virtual console, as well as various other old game collections on the eShop.
