I mentioned this in another thread but I've been playing a lot of "World of Horror" while I wait for files to transfer and what not. Usually I don't enjoy games that depend a lot on luck, simply because I have no luck and bit shines through when I tackle games with any RNG (let alone ones that actively work against you like Darkest Dungeon) but I'm a big cosmic horror fan and love the old DOS-days kind of aesthetic that I couldn't pass it up.
I think it's still in early release mode (which I normally avoid) so it can be a bit buggy at times, but they are constantly updating it with new scenarios, characters and enemies so it's actually kind of fun to watch the game grow in almost real time.
I never know how to describe it though, I guess it's like if Lovecraft and Junji Ito had a baby using MSDOS as a surrogate, and I don't even mind when my bad luck shines through because as many fans of cosmic horror know, sometimes the bad results and just as fun, if not better, than the good ones.
