The first language doesn't matter that much, unless it's one of those that teach you bad habits. I'd also not recommend JavaScript as a first language because of its not-so intuitive quirks.

You'd use many different languages and environments throughout your career and you'd learn them whenever the need arise. It won't take much time once you've got the basic principles.

In general, if you want a 9-5 job in a big company, you might want to focus on C# or Java. And if you want to freelance in the web sphere, PHP (plus JavaScript) is a solid choice.
