A lot of news has come out recently about ClearviewAI and there facial recognition 'search engine' that they're giving to law enforcement (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/20/reade...ew-ai.html is a prime example). Even John Oliver did a segment on it and how its possibly being used at the BLM protests.

I understand the concerns over privacy (i.e. they're searching literally every social media image) and the thing I'd be most worried about is people being able to find out more about me (and the services I use) because my face is found in pictures on both.

But for law enforcement, I don't know how useful it will be. Would the ClearviewAI system actually be able to tie people from their image to a social media identity? And even if it could, is that really useful outside of identifying someone they didn't have an identity for before (which they should be able to do because they're law enforcement)?
