Will TikTok be Removed?

I don't use it, nor do I care for it.

A spokesperson for TikTok stated "We have never provided user data to the Chinese government, nor would we do so if asked." - to use that as an excuse for collecting everyone's data is pathetic. China has laws which explicitly state any China owned company must cooperate with the government if told to, hence part of the Huawei scares.

I think that if TikTok gets removed it is purely political, as none of the American owned apps which are harvesting equivalent amounts of user data - and openly cooperate with the American government - are facing the same concerns. I think that this should be a call for more widespread privacy laws (and also enforcement of these laws) and not just a call to ban specific apps.
