will btc ever reach 50k?

Unlike gold, bitcoin does have a date where it will no longer be able to be mined openly. I was thinking it was 2040 (might be a protocol switch up year), but it will be mined until at least 2140.

The difficulty with Bitcoin is figuring out how to mine a single bitcoin without having to spend 1.5 coins in utility costs to do it.
