Is trap music really music?

It's a sub genre of hip-hop, so that classifies it as much as music as Gangsta Rap or G-funk.

I know T.I. gets all the credit as the founder of the Trap genre (only because he was the first to title an album with the phrase "Trap") , but the origins of Trap to me go back to Master P and No Limit. Even back to when I was a young kid in 1995 and first heard Down South Hustlers: Bouncin' and Swingin'.
