Is death note good?

I watched it when it first aired and was hooked on each episode. I hadn't read the manga at that point, so everything I was seeing was for the first time. Each episode offers a new turn and twist and I felt really invested in Light's story as things progressed. It's very thought-provoking in that you wonder "what would I do?" if you were in a situation like that. The whole thing is pretty fantastical but also grounded in the way it's presented.
