What is the deal with anime?

It's just fun. There is nothing really to understand, unlike cartoons, though it can be a lot more emotional. The japanese are really good at voice acting, so that elevates the experience a lot. A good comparison would be Avatar, the last air bender. It's a cartoon, but not like looney tunes.
