#6 Alright so a real answer to this thread from someone who has played the game off and on sense around the end of S2 start of S3.
If you have never played a Moba before, League is a great starting ground compared to the others, The camera angle at which the game makes you play and limited yet rewarding world interaction gets you understanding key points and objectives around the map (No matter how small).
The "Class" system the hero's are based off is pretty self explanatory and not based of any custom terms for "Lore" purposes like some use or over "Generalizing" which happens often in the genre.
Firstly you have Fighters, These are your classic well Fighters, So swords, spears, hammers that jazz. They tend to do alright damage and take a bit of it too! this makes them a good over-all class as they can dish/take.
Secondly you have Mages these are also a little self explanatory but hey that's go for it. Fireballs! Icewalls! Teleportation and more! These scholars of the land have mastered arcane arts, Or they may be the master of those Arts themselves. These guys do a TON of damage but take very little usually in the terms of hitpoints.
Thirdly that's talk about the Tank. Some would say this is the first role you should learn and Id sorta agree but I wrote it third for a reason. This class is mostly determined by the items you buy in-game during the match. Tanks can be made of Fighters or Mages. So you can still do some Damage and have the play style you want (Ranged or Melee)
Fourth, Thats talk Marksmen, These are your Long range characters "But wait Calltechuniversity didn't you say mages were ranged?" Well yes I did but Mages are within the medium range casting zone, And don't really have that much of a space advantage in the terms of distance from Fighters charging them, Marksmen however armed with Bows, Snipers, Gatling guns (That switch to a Rocket Launcher),Cannons. They can do very high damage and some of them at even very very high rates of speed. (Seriously at end-game death can happen in like two seconds depending on who you are)
Fifth. We have Assassins. They wait or hunt for their prey and with super high melee type damage normally will wreck havoc on other players. These characters are not for new users as they have a rather fast play style and some even have teleport moves that give them anchor points to teleport back and forth mid combat, It gets very tricky to track yourself if you are not cautious.
Finally there is the Controllers. These are normally Mage types but not always, Their job is to lock players into a certain area so that their teammates (Being you in the situation) are able to dive in and finish off the kill. This class is probably the most advanced to play correctly so that you are not hindering your team but rather aiding them every step of the way.
All n all this was a lot of typing hope this break down if you haven't started playing yet gets you more interested
Also the community isn't as bad as people think, Just don't flame in chat and you won't be flagged by the system to play with negative people
