Why do these people exist in times of pandemics?

In global scale issues, especially in this pandemic, one of, but not limited to, the following scenarios happen:

1. Many either deny that it exists, or downplay its consequences, leading them to act like everything is normal and throwing caution to the wind--which then leads to them putting other people in harms way. (See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPLkdevhWD0)
   
2. Many exploit the situation by selling snake oil to desperate victims. (See: https://www.mlive.com/news/2020/12/moder...-says.html)
   
3. Many spread misinformation, which is quite counterproductive because they need it as much as everyone else does. (See: https://www.nationalgeographic.com/scien...infodemic/)
   

There's a lot more problems than just this, but it's what aggravates me the most. For the first time in most people's lives, they can finally help save the world by just staying in their houses, and not do anything. Why is it that people find that NOW is the best time to be out and about?
