Generally from my perspective - they don't really "need" the new phone and they just want it. I mean it's fair - your money you do what you want, but most young people these days aren't that wise with their money. As with photography gear, people say that you should upgrade your bodies/lenses when you feel limited by your current gear. I previously had an Iphone 6+ which was constantly lagging, crashing and other problems with carplay - so I bought a Galaxy S10? Why? because I was having issues with my iphone.
