To people who want to start watching, Death Note is usually recommended, as it is a good entrance point to a few genres.

A few other good ones, in no particular order, are:

Baccano!
JoJo's Bizzare Adventure (parts 1 2 and 3 by David Studios, not stardust crusaders made in the 90's)
Tokyo Ghoul
One Punch Man
Death parade
Code Geass
Sgt. Frog
