If you're talking the USA, then a lot of people have to stop thinking that what someone else does in their love and sex life somehow affects their own. Just look at the offence marriage equality caused, as if two gay people getting married somehow made their own straight marriage less valid.

I find it bizarre how angry some people get about what gay people do, how they live their lives or what kind of sex they have. No one seems to care what straight people do in their bedrooms but try to have a conversation with a rabid homophobe and they always seem to bring up graphic discussions of sex rather than how two same sex people feel about each other.

But quite frankly, with the way women have been treated in the past I wouldn't be surprised to see a gay man elected before a straight woman in the USA!
