For anyone who wants to know from a 3nd party source:

Both my roommate and a family member have worked at Amazon, the former at the lower packing and eventually delivery and the later at the C-Level until she was dumb as fuck and got fired.

Anyway, no the drivers do not get penalized as someone asked above. But, what a lot of people don't realize about Amazon is most of the products on their are via 3rd party sellers, so a lot like ebay in that sense. When you do a return, unless it's specifically sold by Amazon who acts more as a middle man in most cases, you're actually hurting a small time vendor.

If it's from Amazon themselves? They don't really give enough of a crap. Since not enough people are abusing the system, they won't do much, as they want your money eventually. However, they will keep track. Once you get into the multiple thousands of dollars range, they'll actively keep an eye on you using deep machine learning and the likes on an automated system. Apparently they might send you a "hey knock it off, you're losing your returns allowance for a few months" letter, though by that point most people have just moved onto a different account.

With that said, it is 100% a strike against the person selling the goods and it screws with their store ratings too. I'm not saying it's a good thing or a bad thing, you're just not hurting amazon unless it's a specific amazon sold product.

Now, from what I can tell the OP has posted a pretty old ebook based on the comments, I may well have it in my collection already but they make subtle changes that are enough you'll want to keep a lookout for the latest versions of whatever instruction set is out there normally.
