It was mind boggling to see someone kneel on another for so long without rendering aid when Floyd was clearly in distress. It isn't anywhere near as cut and dry as the media tries to make it out to be. Everyone wants to act like it was an act of racism, yet race wasn't mentioned a single time during trial (because there was no evidence of it). Chauvin was on a power trip and was either too callous or too stupid to recognize a human being who was clearly in a state of distress. That being said, Floyd certainly didn't do himself any favors. He would likely still be alive (regardless of Chauvin's actions) if he didn't do a bunch of fentanyl and try to buy cigarettes with counterfeit currency. It's a tragic situation. Chauvin still deserves some jail time, but I have a hard time believing the murder conviction will stand. I've never seen a more compelling reason for a change of venue than the Chauvin trial. No way in hell the jury wasn't influenced by the political environment and the rioting they drove through everyday on their way to/from court from the Daunte Wright shooting.
