Yeah dude, if I were you I'd take a step back and remove myself from that situation immediately. If you're worried about the consequences of breaking it off, tell her its for her own good as well. I mean there's nothing wrong with having a friendly relationship with her, but as far as a relationship defined as a "couple", I'd hold off on that.
