Best method to find diamods

Caving is a good way to get a wide variety of ores and different things (mobs, lava/water, dungeons, etc.), but strip mining is good for consistently finding many diamonds. Mine around y=11 or y=13, but this might have changed in the newer version of Minecraft, 1.17
