Depends on your definition of dead I suppose. Surely not as populated as it used to be a decade ago perhaps, but it's still a classic that lots of people will play for the nostalgia I suppose, so it'll never "die 100%" I'd say. Lotsa people still have "ancient" computers too. Especially people in poor countries. They can't run newer games at a decent framerate for them to be worth playing, so they stick to games like that. Unfortunately, it's the most hacker-infested game I've known, and these hackers are partly what's keeping it alive. :/
It's dead enough for me personally to not play it. :p
