Motivation when developing software / games

I'm gonna keep this real short, I just wanted to know if anyone else really struggles with the same issue and what they do about it

I always get big heaps of motivation when coming up with an idea for a game.I spend a week consistently working on it and making good progress, but then it just declines and I have no sort of excitement for working on the project whatsoever, little progress is made and eventually, the project is just scrapped.

Does anyone else feel the same way and if so what do you do about it?
