Discord or TeamSpeak?

Because I have NEVER heard of TeamSpeak until I started using Discord and I've met folks that was talking about TeamSpeak.

Speaking of TeamSpeak, can anyone tell me what TeamSpeak is/was? I've used Skype before resorting to using Steam as both a gaming AND messaging platform... Before getting quickly acclimated to Discord.
