Might sound cringy and basic, but gaming in general, especially online, is much more fun with any sort of cheating off.
I wouldn't want to be cheated on competitive gaming either.

Now, on singleplayer games, modding is amazing if done right, but i don't know if this counts as cheating.
On games like Sims or GTA, cheating for speeding up reasons, like money and all ,if used like once or twice because you are super bored, it's really ok.

I usually don't cheat in PvP/MMO/Any Multiplayer Games.
If the game is Co-op/Singleplayer, then I usually would play with cheats.
It also depends on just how much I love the game and how much grinding there is.
If it's something I can feasibly do by trials and errors, then I don't use any cheats.
If it's extremely infuriating, then... Well, yeah, I cheat.

I tried to cheat on Warframe when it first launched.
I had a pretty bad connection at the time and it was hard to que with players because I'd always get disconnected.
I couldn't really get any of the loot from the bosses because of it so I started playing solo.
This is when I ran into a big problem. I'd always run out of ammo fighting the boss. Always.

I got a cheat to give me max ammo as soon as I ran out.
I played through the boss once and was immediately banned.
I would have preferred not to cheat but at the time it seemed like my only other option as I couldn't really afford higher bandwidth at the time.
It really only affected me so I was comfortable trying it but I don't really agree with cheating to win in online circumstances.
It ruins the overall experience for everyone involved.

Without a doubt. If you consider mods on even a single player video game that give you an unfair advantage cheating.
Which ?technically it is) then Im actively cheating while writing this answer.

theres a bit of a truth to the saying ?if youre not cheating, youre not trying.
It goes so far to show that youre even more likely to cheat.
If youre competing against other people, especially if you consider yourself a winner.

Sometimes a game is just too fun and you really want to see how things are if you go into extremes.
Its not really about cheating though.
Its for seeing other aspects of the game or whatever the creator might have put in.

But theres a reason why I refuse cheating on my first playthrough.
It simply ruins your game and I lose interest when getting stuff too easy.

But then again, theres a difference between actual cheating and using cheats to spaw a tank in GTA and going on a rampage for fun.

A few years ago I was very bored and decided to find out what aimbotting is like.
It was mildly entertaining for a short time and many people became somewhat angry.
I don't plan on doing it again.

A better question might be ?who has never cheated at a game? There may be some other interesting responses! Cheating is a natural, human response to any competitive situation, whether we like it or not. Its human nature! Making things easier for ourselves to get the best result would be a positive outcome for us in anything.

Though, at the same time, there are people who wont cheat on anything the challenge is what gives them satisfaction.
The compulsion is still there. Some may abandon morality, which can be very problematic.

When I was younger, I went through a phase that I loved to cheat in video games.
There were multiple ways to do this, too. Game Genie comes to mind, followed by Game Shark and Action Replay.
There were tons of strategy guides out there with the best codes you could use for these special contraptions that magically gave you infinite lives.

It was extremely fascinating to me at what these things could do.
And they looked cool! I had a Game Genie for my NES and my Gameboy and used them constantly.
