laptop or desktop?

You should definitely go for a laptop as it will come in handy rather than a desktop. During college laptop will save your ass many times. Now the first part is don't go for a gaming laptop as it will be bulky and heavy to carry around. I myself have a mid-range gaming laptop( Lenovo Y50-70). Gaming laptops have a very good processing speed coupled with good amount of ram and a gpu which will help you on gaming or else editing purposes. As per my experience go for a laptop which has a good processor and battery life along with light weight. If budget is not an issue go for Dell XPS 13/15. Or if gaming isn't your main preference and you want it only for college use go for a MacBook.
