No? A well made game gives you a sense of accomplishment and success without giving you "things". The Souls series being a perfect example of such a game. The reward you get for overcoming y our own weakness and lack of ability is just that, being allowed to "move on" and giving you a sense of accomplishment by showing you just how much you've grown and learned. Call of Duty and Battlefield on the other hand just shower you with "things" for minimal amount of effort and the immensely short life-span of each "life" you have.
