To make it look more faded away as to say you should include the same texture of the dots where you want it to fade away rather than just painting over it. Painting over it makes it seem like a completely different object on top of the background instead of the borders chiseling away into the background. I do really like the layout however. Also, try experimenting with where the outlines fade away making some sharper and a little more aggressive as to say. Maybe include some worn away areas inside the borders themselves as well that vary in sizes. Just experiment with some things really.
