RE: Looking for one sectional moderator
Why do you want to be a moderator?
Being an active user of NulledBB for around 11 months now, I can say that it has become one of the best and most fun experiences I have had as a member. I came into Nulled not wanting to be a staff member at all, trying to take a break from the whole staff thing and just be a normal member. Well 11 months later and I feel like I am ready to jump back into it. The Member Contests section is a section that needs constant moderation to check if the giveaways had are real, or just some scam. There are also many unprofessional contests that members partake in, not knowing if they are legitimate or not. There could be a member who really wants prime so they can do something like give out rep, and is really active, but he just doesn't have enough money. then someone says "Hey I'm hosting a Prime giveaway! Join by replying!" The person joins and it turns out to be a fake giveaway. Now this member feels scammed, and decides to not post here anymore since he believes everyone here is a lying, cheating, scammer. That's one HQ member we lost due to there being little moderation. I know that was extreme. But it could happen, and it may have happened to people in the past. We just don't know.
I also want to say that although this sounds cliche, there will always be times when there are no moderators on. So why not have one person who can just clean shit up when if something goes wrong when they aren't here.
How much time a day do you spend on the site?
I'll be honest. Way to much. Like WAAAAAAY too fucking much.
Wednesday (which was yesterday for the server) I spent 7 hours on this site. Seven hours. It can either show how much dedication I have, or how little of a life I have
If anything, it shows dedication to a site that I truly do care about.
Your experience as a moderator
I was a very well known Super Moderator for a forum site that I refuse to name. Although the community is infamous for being complete aids, I was known by many to be a very fair, but diligent moderator. I can always have a good time like I do here, but there is a line that people shouldn't cross, and that line is determined by the rules. Now there is plenty of other competition, I understand that me saying I was a moderator of a site that you guys do not particularly like. But I left that site the way I did for a reason, I was treated with some sort of disrespect for no given reason, and said fuck this place. NulledBB isn't one of those places. Everybody treats everybody with a certain amount of respect. A.K.A. we don't constantly try to DOX one another.
Other examples can be things like Minecraft servers, and I have been an admin on numerous small forums, including my own. And everyone who was on my own site when it was up knew how fucking strict I was there. The best thing I can say about being a moderator in a shitty community, is that you learn how NOT to deal with bullshit.
Do you have ideas to make the section a better place? If yes, which?
Two things:
1. Have a format for contests. Something like this where it says the Prize you will win, Requirements, How the winner will be determined. And in the end, showing a screenshot of the winner being chosen (if it is a random choice type of thing) so everybody can see with an image and not just from their word. Of course there are still many ways to get around this, but it is one added precaution that I am willing to take into account.
2. Have a posting limit. Just like the Marketplace, and leaking sections, the Contests section is a place where items are given out. My question is why give a posting limit and a credit requirement for something like giving leaks, but allow these same people to enter contests randomly by saying "wow thanks for the share" and get something like 500 credits. It has things like upgrades, or credits go to waste if someone who has 10 posts comments and somehow wins.
