Crov Wrote: Yes. Katakana is usually used when referring to words and names (mostly names) that has no Japanese origin what so ever. "Manga" is inherently Japanese so it is indeed the wrong use for it. Also, a gifted designer is able to alter their design to fit with the image and doesn't require to skip the "Logical" step to make their artwork look better. Judging by how you made the "manga" UB, then it doesn't exactly seems like you had a great deal of ideas to it. That is because Katakana is more "organic" in their art form than Kanji. (Heck, the font you used makes it look like Katakana written in the form of Kanji.)
The amount of fitting ideas one can make with a less "organic" (at least for me) is insane. Considering that what you did just flat out looks like; "I had no idea what to make, but I had to make something so that is what I did".
That's why you are one of the greatest designers I know. Goes to show that even if people find these good, they still have flaws. I've never reached perfection. I strive to, but I know for a fact I'm not there. I'm still learning many technical aspects of design you've taught me. As for having no ideas, I did have a solid idea and this was my vision. May not have been great to many, but I thought it was. The only userbar that is my style honestly is Fantasy. The other two I ventured out my comfort zone and made those styles for the first time.
