I've been seeing a growing trend where warez sites are trying to push discussions.
This site has the same thing.

back in the late 90s till about 2006 i was admin of the largest forum for this content.
There's a reason people don't and shouldn't yammer on these forums. Identity protection.

Some will say leeching, but when did being a leach become a bad thing? I understand the point when it comes to torrents as that needs seeders, but a forum with static content hosted?

The one thing that really drives me nuts though, when you're forced to comment on a thread to download. Have all these old posts as the newest because they are indexed long ago on search sites. So people keep bumping some software that's super outdated.

I miss how great these sites used to be back in the day.
Now i have to come up with stupid bullshit just to download a file.

point systems are dumb, just promotes spamming and no real conversation.
But i guess we all have to deal with tatics that don't do what the intent is.
