If you are getting that low of FPS I suggest using optifine and if that does not improve to your liking upgrading would be the way to go, it will cost you money obviously but its the only way to really get your frames better. If you're using a laptop for gaming and only gaming and you are not planning to bring your laptop around with you a lot, I would suggest selling the laptop and use that money to start building your own pc, because gaming laptops are way too expensive, so building your own would be the best and you can pretty much pick how much FPS you want on games depending on your budget and your games you play. An ideal range for your computer should be at least 600$ but I suggest investing more than that since that's the minimum for a decent gaming pc.
