The weird amount of space it takes up

most of that is probably addons. just get rid of the addons you don't use. you can also safely delete the directories "cache", "download", and "downloads" since they contain stuff downloaded from servers you've joined. it will be redownloaded when needed. my gmod "only" takes around 20gb
