Yes for bitcoins, as others have said, ASICs all the way.

Altcoins; I recommend Vega 56 or GTX 1070

Of course, be sure to shop around! Go to nowinstock.net and turn on email notifications when a card is in stock; they typically sell out within minutes after getting stock.
