#64 I don't like coding either but from what I've heard is JavaScript is the language of future web development. I came across a really great post about this elsewhere:

Quote:My suggestion? Go for JavaScript. You can use it for both back-end and front-end. PHP is getting old and soon to be deprecated. People move to state-full designs using things like Node.js (as the name implies, you can program it with JavaScript), Go lang and even C/C++ is getting popular nowadays. All of this because of a sudden switch in web-applications to a RESTful architecture. Which is basically, HTTP the way it was meant to be.
And yes, JavaScript is kind of hard. Mostly because it is a broken retarded language made in a few weeks that was ignored for the most part but eventually started to grow massively in late 2010 due to its large platform support. That's why people find it hard to learn. Because it has a ton of caveats and flaws that tend to confuse you.
But if you take the time you would've use to learn PHP and spend it learning JavaScript, you'll find it becomes much easier. Also, don't expect to become an expert overnight. Especially since you have zero experience in just about anything that counts as programming (html and css are not programming languages). These things take years. And not just years of waiting. Years of practice. Non-stop every day and night of constant practice and making tons of projects of different types. You grind that language like your life depends on it. Then and only then, you'll start to see the bigger picture and things will start to feel easy. Without effort, you're just a simple tourist.
And an exact answer to the question "how much time it takes?" does not exist. Because it varies from person to person. And by the looks of it. It'll take longer for you because you're more preoccupied with how long it takes rather than what it takes.
