I'm on Windows 7 Professional for both my desktop and two laptops, because that is the OS that was installed when the equipment was built. I think one should always go for the OS that the computer or laptop has been designed for. I reformatted my desktop approx three years after I purchased it as I usually do to extend the life and to make it faster. Then reinstalled the same Windows 7 Professional it came with. It was easy to do. And the updates were not as difficult to install, as Microsoft off late has streamlined the updates for Windows 7. They no longer have the messy long list of unnecessary updates when one installs the updates for the first time. However, I did use an external script to install the updates offline, just to make sure my computer doesn't seize up when I uploaded the updates for the first time. I used WSUS Offline for that and found it worked really well. I'm very happy with it.
