How to PROPERLY install a shader pack.

So, you don't know how to access .minecraft.. huh.. Alright! What you need to do is simply press the two keys "Windows Key + R" at the same time. You'll be greeted with a simple run box that looks like this:



In the "Open:" Box, you'll simply type "%appdata%". Hopefully, you'll see a folder called '.minecraft'. This is where your minecraft files are located, and where you'll install your shaderpacks. Open .Minecraft and you'll see a series of folders such as 'assets' and 'resourcepacks'. You'll see 'mods', 'resourcepacks' and more after we've finished installing labymod.

So now that you know where your .minecraft folder is, you can continue with the next step which is actually installing the minecraft version that is compatible with shaderpacks/mods. My personal favourite is LabyMod. This modded version comes pre-installed with optifine (which basically optimizes your game) and LabyMod has it's own options menu dedicated to custom settings, like showing your name on topof your head in F5 for example.

If you want to be boring and lame, just go with forge i guess.. not both at once by the way. You can't launch two minecraft versions in the same client.

They both do the same thing except labymod is better and is unique in a way. Once you open the LabyMod installer, you'll be greeted with this:



Pretty much just select the version you'd like to install (BUT KEEP VANILLA TICKED, FUVK FORGE (Joking, i dont actually know the difference between the two but they both work basically the same for what we want to do))

Once you've pressed next, you'll be presented with this:



Simply, tick OptiFine and press install.



Once you're presented with this ^, then you can continue to the next step!

So you know how to access your .minecraft AND install labymod. Hopefully you've done both of this by now because we're now going to install the shaders themselves.

First, you'll need the shaders mod itself. You can find this at the link below. Simply, select the version you installed labymod for (i installed it for 1.8.9) and continue to download the file. Once that is done, head back to your .minecraft and place the .jar file in your /mods folder. Once this is done, you can head to searching for your first shader at the link below:

Now that your shaders mod is installed, find a nice looking shader that you see fit for yourself in the link above. You may also go onto youtube and search up "top 10 minecraft shader packs {version number}" and find out what you feel is best. Make sure the shader is compatible with your version before trying to use it. If it's not and you try to use it, you may have some graphical issues. Once you have found a shader, install it and place it onto your desktop for easy management of this step. Once you have your .zip file on your desktop, you want to navigate back to your .minecraft folder and place the .zip folder inside of the /shaderpacks directory. Pretty straightforward - right?

Once that is all done and dusted, head to your minecraft game, launch it and all that good stuff then head to the option tab. Head to "Video Settings > Shaders..." then select the shader you'd like to use by double clicking on it. Your game may freeze for a second or two and you should be all gucci from there. Launch singleplayer or join a serverand watch the magic happen!
