Any pump&dump members here?

I would think you would get a large group of people who would buy certain coing, to raise its value. Once the value raises significantly, then there is a hope that some other folks would buy it and raise it even more. Once it reaches the amount group likes, they decide all to sell, and they make money.

I believe that would be it in a nutshell.
