If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be?

I love dogs, and if there's any kind of animal that I can have, I'd rather it be a dog over anything.
There's soo much unconditional love and trust. If you hurt them, they'll forgive you as long as you make it clear you're sorry. If you're in need of help, they'll not only take a bullet for you, they'll straight up give their lives in their entirety for you.
