Bitcoin mining

A good GPU, or two.
Don't even bother with your CPU for mining.
Don't start using ASICs and investing in those if you have no idea what they do.
Pick a currency that's suited to your current GPU, or the ones you want to get and base decisions around that.
If you're not going to turn a profit after electricity, then it's probably not worth it unless you're set on upgrading.
