I was taught to speak, type, and talk in full sentences. If I had ever decided to come home speaking in trendycolloquialisms, my grandmother would smack me upside the head and they would never come out again... Although, I now value that ability to read and write properly (for the most part, anyway) quite highly. It really makes a difference.
