Why should I use Discord?

Not sure why you say it "bans" things sometimes.
You'll never really get banned from Discord unless a server owner or admin does so. If you've done something to get banned from Discord entirely, then you've probably broken their TOS and someone has reported you for doing so.

I've never heard of someone being banned for no reason, I'm guessing that's what you mean from "bans shit sometimes". Discord is 100% free as well, not just cheap. You don't need anything other than a computer or phone and an internet connection to use it. No money is required.
