It is not the child's mentality you have to worry about here, it is the one you love, I have 4 children and was really difficult to cope at first, my wife had depression when we had our first, this was further fueld by postnatal depression and got quite severe, let your loved one sort themselves out and deal with the current situation before even starting to think about children.
