What programming language to start with?

I personally started with LUA - I was driven to do so by a game project that I had joined as a regular member, and when they had converted their scripting from a custom framework called Xanascript to LUA, I started to learn so I could actually aid the scripting team in the future; sadly the project died. It was still useful to learn though.
