Is is even smart to invest in bitcoin

I invested $1k in btc 2 years ago, and got out when it was at $12k a coin. I could have stayed in longer obviously and made a better profit, but I can't lie when it comes to investments like these.. I get a bit scary. Check out while I know I'm up. Same thing with when I goto the casino, which isn't too often.. its kind of like a safe guard. I used to be foolish and keep chasing when I was younger.. but I've learned my lesson after losing substantial amounts.
