#1 I've been developing a MilitaryRP for 6 and a half months now. I started working on it back in January but got established in mid February. I spent probably a good 100 hours coding and developing this server from the group up, making sure every little thing is on point. starting about July12th the panel stopped working, I just thought it was a random outage from something like a network error. About 3days later (July15th)I tried to log into the panel and saw that instead of bringing me to the home page, the website didn't load at all, connection error. Now at this point I'm getting irritated I said to myself "Wtf is going on, did a tornado hit the server box". 2 days later (July17th) I decided to shoot the owner of the hosting company a message, I said "Hey, the panel seems to be not working", no response. So I waited til the next day (July 18th). I then sent him another message saying "Hello? I still can't connect to the panel". So again, I was trying to be patient so I waited til the next day (July 19th) to wait to see if I got a message, still, no message, so I said "Ummmmmm, I can't run a community without a server". The owner of the hosting company used to talk to me ALL THE TIME, so I don't see a reason why he would all the sudden stop talking to me. So I waited another 3 days (July 22nd) and decided to message him for the final time, I said "Hey, Bud, I messaged you 3 times in the past Fucking week and you still haven't responded. Your hosting still up? Like tf goin on" (word for word). So I decided to actually do the smart thing and contact someone other then the owner of the hosting company. So I sent the person a message saying "Did you shut down? I have a server with you but I can't access the panel. I already tried messaging the owner but he hasn't responded to me". He replied back saying "The owner might be sleeping or smoking, but I will try to reach him for you". I then sent him the screen shot of me messaging the owner with the response, "I don't think he would sleep are smoke for that long". He then proceeded to tell me he would sort it out. From that day I still don't have access to my server. Just recently (July 31st) the person from the hosting company got back to me, he told me the servers have been having problems lately and he's sorry for the inconvenience. He then gave me the link to the new server panel with a new login and a new server. I then had the idea to try to log in with my old credentials, to see if my server is still up. It said my username or password was wrong. So since yesterday (July 31st) I have lost a FULLY DEVELOPED SERVER because the hosting company had a small slip up and didn't tell anyone, and I of course didn't make a backup of the server. So now I have to announce to my community the server that everyone likes to play on has to shut down because the hosting company fucked up and I can't do shit about it.
This is the EXACT REASON you should always go find a hosting company with a good reputation. Now I didn't reveal the name of the support agent because he really did try to help. I'm also not going to reveal the name of the owner as it really could've been a slip up as they are a newer hosting company.
This is just me giving a warning to people that when you buy a gmod server host know who your buying from, and remember that your good friend AligatoR lost and entire server because he wasn't careful enough.
