Humans are self-centered creatures. Most people like to think they have an explanation for their faults, but the truth is, most people think they do. Humans aren't entirely objective, and everybody sees things through their own subjective worldview. Unfortunately, most people, whether they openly express it or not, are geared to have an inflated sense of self-worth (which makes sense in survival scenarios).

There are many reasons for hypocrisy, but most stem from selfishness. It may be that they are somewhat aware of a flaw and use hypocrisy as a way to show condemnation for the traits they dislike in themselves without having to openly admit it's in them. It may be that they don't notice it when they're doing something wrong because they live in their own bubble. Most commonly, I think, though, is people simply fail to judge ourselves equally to other people. We know our struggles, our journey, and our reasons. Most other people are just checker pieces that seem like a disturbance in relation to us to us.

It's like complaining to people about how much you hate it when people complain. It makes sense to you because you're frustrated, you *feel* the need to vent, etc. So to you, your complaints will seem to hold more truth.
