1. Besides rent, consider a monthly food expense. If you're eating out a lot, that can easily be hundreds, if not thousands, per month. Then there's utilities, internet bill, phone bill as well as health and car insurance.

2. Oh boy where to begin. There's income, sales, social security, and even property tax (although I don't think you have to worry about that if you rent).

3. Make sure you have enough set aside for any taxes and extra charges you'll have to pay for on top of the price of the car. Don't forget the cost of license plate registration and everything like that. Also, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have some money on the side for repairs as you'll probably find something that needs some work even after just buying the car.

OP, make sure this is a decision you're really committing to. If not, you can find yourself in a ton of financial trouble with nearly no one to support you if you fail. If I were you, I'd wait a bit to build up at least $10k in savings just to make sure that if anything comes up, you'll be able to cover it.
