I really enjoyed the movie, I'm currently reading the book and they are really different.
But not different as "really bad" like Eragon, or Percy Jackson adaptations have been.
I think many of the book's events would have been boring in the movie, like the first trial :

In the book, the first trial is mainly a crawling in a dark DnD dungeon and a duel on Joust, the movie's race was much more epic
